Earthquake Expert and Architect Yoshinori MORIWAKI - Earthquake Awareness Conference Held
The "Earthquake Awareness" conference, hosted by Balıkesir University's Career Development Application and Research Center (BAÜN KAGEM) and Balıkesir University's International Information and Technology Community (IITC), was organized on October 16, 2024, and featured earthquake expert and architect Yoshinori MORIWAKI.
The event, held in the Faculty of Engineering's Prof. Mehmet ÇAKIR Amphitheatre, was attended by Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Cevdet AVCIKURT and Prof. Dr. Fatih SATIL; Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and BAÜN KAGEM Director Prof. Dr. Suat KARA; Dean of the Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Zafer ASLAN; Dean of the Faculty of Architecture Prof. Dr. Türkan GÖKSAL ÖZBALTA; Secretary General Yemliha YANAR; academic staff and students.
In his speech, Earthquake expert and architect Yoshinori MORIWAKI discussed earthquakes experienced in Turkey's history and the precautions that should be taken against them. Emphasizing that conscious earthquake preparation can prevent potential damage, MORIWAKI delivered his presentation using examples from Turkey and Japan.
The event concluded with Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Cevdet AVCIKURT presenting a plaque to speaker Yoshinori MORIWAKI, followed by a commemorative photo.
Following the event, earthquake expert and architect Yoshinori MORIWAKI visited Balıkesir University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel OĞURLU in his office. The visit, which also included Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University Rector Prof. Dr. İsmail BOZ; Balıkesir University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih SATIL; Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences Dean and BAÜN KAGEM Director Prof. Dr. Suat KARA; Faculty of Architecture Dean Prof. Dr. Türkan GÖKSAL ÖZBALTA; Secretary General Yemliha YANAR; and IITC members, Balıkesir University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel OĞURLU thanked Yoshinori MORIWAKI for his contributions to the event and his visit, and Yoshinori MORIWAKI thanked Prof. Dr. Yücel OĞURLU for his hospitality and hosting.
